The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran: Death, Departure, and New Beginnings (Part 8 – Finale)

What if an ending isn’t simply an ending?

In the final part of The Prophet, Kahlil Gibran brings Almustafa’s journey full circle as he speaks about death, departure, and what it means to let go.

Four ideas stood out to me: death is part of life, life is filled with small endings and beginnings, the best things we give people should eventually stop needing us, and uncertainty doesn’t mean we’re lost.

The book began with Almustafa seeing the ship that would take him home. Now he finally boards it—leaving behind the people he loves and living out the very first lesson he gave them: loving something doesn’t mean we get to keep it forever.

Don’t be so afraid of endings that you miss the beginning hidden inside them.

Until next time, remember: the answers are older than we are—and just as relevant today.
